Our old stone farmhouse in Portugal has been plagued with damp, mould and moisture issues for years and the fabric of the building has suffered as a result. In today’s episode we begin to tackle the fourth and final piece of the puzzle so we *hopefully* end up with a comfortable, warm, dry home.
Today we’re installing flexible ventilation ducting running from the roof space through a service cavity on the first floor and into all the rooms downstairs. The goal is to suck out all the warm humid air from the kitchen, laundry room and bathrooms and replace it with fresh air from outside using a mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) system.
In this video we’ll show you how we tackled the retrofit of ventilation ducting in an old building and talk a little bit about how the final solution will work.
