Central Portugal is a stunning place to live or visit and today we’re taking a bit of a break from renovation work to do some touristing.
The central region of Portugal is home to 27 Aldeias do Xisto or schist villages. These are old villages where the majority of the buildings are made with local stone called “schist”. In this video we visit a popular one called Casal de São Simão in the region of Figueiró dos Vinhos. This tiny village has one main cobbled street and a number of quaint and quirky cottage like houses and B&Bs dotted along the way. And most importantly there’s a restaurant at the top of the hill that comes highly recommended. In fact it was one of our CLUB members that suggested we go and check it out.
