Rotten Lintels and Painful Pointing (plus some demolition!)

This video was filmed between Jan-Apr 2021. As we continued the rip out of the lovely 1990s pink bathroom, we discovered some rot in the wooden lintels above the windows. After a bit of digging it became clear that some remedial work would be needed. But having not worked with a stone building before, we weren’t 100% sure of how best to proceed.

While working on an action plan, we decided to strengthen the surrounding stone walls by filling some of the gaps and cracks with lime mortar. This was a painstaking process but eventually we had the walls in a slightly better shape.
